StarCraft 2 comes 9 years after the original StarCraft was released, and the fan base is already huge, measuring in millions. The current definitive source for Stacraft 2 news is the StarCraft 2 blog, a long with it’s growing community of followers, on the blog and the the beautiful StarCraft 2 forum, which is maintained by a close group of hardcore StarCraft fans. Registration on these Starcraft 2 Forums is currently free, and custom signature images are provided to the new SC2 Forum members.
The announcment of StarCraft 2 is the inevitable result of many factors, including the titanic player base of Blizzard Entertainment - there are currently more than 8 million players playing its World of Warcraft game and there are still hundreds of thousands of StarCraft games sold each year.
